Cheder (Religion School) takes place each Shabbat during term time and Autumn Term commenced on the 5th September 2020 all classes will be held online currently.
During term time there is a bi-weekly lively service and discussion led D’var Torah and many songs – children are also invited to participate as readers.
All lessons are hosted on one of two enhanced Zoom platforms. There is a safeguarding policy in place and a unique link for each class is sent out at 7am on the cheder morning. You can sign your family up at any point during any term.
Throughout any year we have opportunities for adult education and these classes and events are posted on our Events page.
We also offer study sessions in addition to educational events and these are offered by members of MLJC as well as collaborations with other progressive Jewish communities in Manchester.
MLJC welcome those that are sincerely looking to convert to Judaism and we are happy to arrange a meeting to discuss this further.
The process would initially involve you having a chat with the secretary of MLJC and then joining MLJC as an associate member. You would then follow a course of study and have a sponsoring Rabbi.
Conversion is not a simple path but MLJC is there to support potential converts throughout the process.
